For live streaming events, ISG intelligently route the streaming content on the CDN from the nearest available source to the edge appliance near to the end-user. For on-demand event, the streaming content is routed by ISGs and cached on edge appliances by either pulling or pushing algorithms. The on-demand content is delivered to end users from the local cache engine nearby, thus offloading the origin server. ISG performs intelligent content routing and pushes the content distribution to the edge of the network, which drastically reduces redundant traffic and eliminates network and server bottlenecks. It enables efficient delivery of bandwidth-intensive content. Moreover, as ISGs communicate with each other frequently for obtaining information of network and nodes status, it makes the content routing be highly intelligent and thus further offload the origin media server and network. By providing high-quality content delivery, users have better viewing experience and their fidelity to content providers are greatly enhanced.
